This photo shows only a fraction of the March on Washington, which is regarded as the largest gathering for civil rights in its time. The March on Washington was a large protest calling for civil and economic rights regarding African Americans, and in support of the Civil Rights Act the Kennedys were attempting to pass. At the forefront of this march were many outstanding leaders, including the well-known Martin Luther King Jr. This protest is also where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, which was a significant piece of the Civil Rights Movement's history.

This painting depicts the beheading of Lady Jane Dudley, who was the titular Queen of England for only nine days, at the age of fifteen. Her father-in-law, a prominent figure at the King's court, persuaded the late King Edward VI to set aside his sisters and designated Lady Jane and her future male children as the successors to the throne. This, however, was short lived. Mary Tudor, the late King's sister, was named the heir by an act of Parliament and King Henry's will, and Lady Jane relinquished her crown and was then charged with high treason, resulting in execution.
